JK Tyre bets on automation for the new world order

Sharad Agarwal, Head of IT at JK Tire, believes that while manufacturing is one of the industries most affected by the epidemic, IT can play an important role in increasing the manufacturing sector with the help of multi-process automation.

“Initially, 100% of the workforce is not allowed inside the manufacturing unit. IT helps us to balance the workforce.

Agarwal believes that it is essential to adopt collaborative approaches and access to enterprise applications to maintain business continuity.

The BCMS (Business Continuity Management System) Certificate is one of the few companies to get this certification in the manufacturing sector. This has enabled us to advance our processes in terms of technology, ”he said.

JK Tire impacts IT above and below by enabling digital connectivity for all of its partners, suppliers, and dealers. Tire manufacturer dealers and suppliers have access to the Real-Time SAP Cloud Platform DMS (Dealer Management System).

“The DMS JK tire is directly connected to SAP – it becomes a virtual office where they can handle orders, payments, and other business-related activities. In these times, when sales executives are unable to meet dealers, this platform helps support our network,” said Agarwal.

The company has already implemented technologies including RPA, ML, AI, and Analytics. “Some of these technologies are maturing; Some are starting to add value to the company. Therefore, our idea to fight the current situation is to streamline our processes so that the business goes smoothly. ”

Currently, cost savings are the biggest challenge facing companies, and every business segment is expected to contribute to budget savings.

Agarwal said the lack of human intervention would increase the IT costs of companies focusing on automation in the near future. “At JK Tire, our goal is to deliver more with limited resources at the moment,” he said.
“I see a trend toward more cost-effective planning for disaster recovery and business continuity and some changes in the cloud. So, in the long run, we can expect an increase in budget expenditures to deal with such unexpected events in the future.”

He believes that Augmented Reality is a lifesaver technology for manufacturing industries and that people can control the machines from their homes without shopping. Additionally, IIoT with less human interaction adds more automation.
