Check your car’s health before going on long trip

Many families are waking up to the charm of driving to holiday destinations this summer. According to travel agents, many individuals, who specialize in finalizing travelling plans in the last moment, have decided to drive to a holiday spot six to ten hours away from home this year because of unavailability of train tickets and relatively expensive air fares.

The roads are going to get a bit crowded this summer as many families are planning road trips. Apart from the scorching summer, the road trip also could be equally demanding on your body and the car.

Experts Suggestion:

Experts suggest that you should take your car to a service station at least three days before you begin your journey. This will give you (and the service station) enough time to detect any potential problems and take remedial steps. One could request for a general check which could look at things like topping up engine oil, or coolant to the optimal levels.

Check for leakages and damages which need to be repaired. Check the brakes, clutch and accelerator to see if they are in good shape. “Examine all light bulbs to ensure that there are no fuses and all are working fine. If lights are improper, it affects driving in the night and compromises the visibility of the driver, especially on highways” says Rakesh Sidana.
