As trucks roll, repair shops along the highways open up

Auto repair shops along state and national highways in Bihar have been reopened as per the Center’s decision to allow freight along roadways. According to statistics available on the Union Road Transport and Highways Ministry website, 171 Dhaba and auto repair shops in Bihar have been closed. 47 of these are on the national highway connecting Patna.

The Union Ministry has created a page for information on repair shops and dhabas across the state. The name, address, owner name, and contact number of the Dhaba or repair shop are available on the site.

State Transport
Secretary Sanjay Kumar Agarwal said the Dhabas was opened for the convenience of truck drivers transporting goods. “Hundreds of drivers are involved in transporting essential goods along the road as there is no other way to eat.

Patna DM Kumar Ravi has been ordered to follow Dhabas when re-opening services. “Only dhabas on national highways about 10 km from the city are open,” he said.

Dhaba owners want to resume work even if they get 50% fewer customers. “We get 25-30 customers every day, which is 50% lower than what I received before the lockdown,” said Nasib Saha, owner of Dhaba near Toll Plaza in Dederganj, which resumed service on April 21. But at least I made some income, ”he said.

Some Dhaba owners say they have closed their dhabas due to the huge loss due to a shortage of customers. Rakesh Kumar, a Dhaba owner of NH 333, had to close his Dhaba again on Monday as there were fewer than five customers every day. “If Dhaba opens, workers will have to pay. I can’t do it now,” he said
